Identifying FeaturesThe most striking feature is the series of prominent, frilly, somewhat irregular axial lamellae (blade-like ribs) that extend from the suture to the base of the body whorl. These lamellae give the shell a rugged, almost spiny texture. The overall squat, fusiform shape and pale coloration are also characteristic.

Description
A marine gastropod (sea snail) with a distinctive pale, frilly shell, shown here in close proximity to a dark bivalve (likely a mussel) on a red algal substrate. The shell exhibits prominent axial lamellae, giving it a rugged, ornate appearance. This species is a predator, often found in cold, deep waters.
