Description

This image displays the interior view of a single valve of a Dosinia afra seashell. The shell exhibits a rounded, somewhat compressed shape typical of the genus. The internal surface is predominantly off-white to pale grey, with subtle concentric banding in slightly darker, brownish-grey hues, particularly noticeable towards the umbonal area. A prominent, deep, U-shaped pallial sinus is clearly visible, a key identifying feature for Dosinia species. Faint growth lines are also discernible on the inner surface. The hinge area shows some darker coloration, and there is a small crack near the hinge.
