Description
The Eroded Cowry is a common and widespread species of sea snail, characterized by its ovate, highly convex shell. The dorsum is typically greenish-grey to yellowish-brown, adorned with numerous small, distinct white or pale blue spots. Its most distinguishing feature is the presence of prominent dark brown or blackish squarish spots or bars along the margins, particularly at the anterior and posterior ends. The base and teeth are white. It inhabits shallow coral reefs and rocky areas in the Indo-Pacific, feeding on sponges, algae, and detritus.
