Description

The Javan Keyhole Limpet is a marine gastropod mollusc, characterized by its conical, limpet-shaped shell with a distinctive apical opening, often referred to as a 'keyhole' or foramen. In the image, the living animal is shown with its mantle largely extended over the shell. The mantle exhibits a striking reticulated pattern of darker lines on a pale background. The shell, partially visible at the apex, displays prominent radial ribbing. This species is typically found in marine benthic environments, grazing on algae.
