Description

Lyria grangeri is a species of marine gastropod, a predatory sea snail belonging to the family Volutidae. The image displays a living specimen with its shell partially covered by its highly patterned mantle and foot. The shell is fusiform, characterized by a light background adorned with distinct dark, somewhat rectangular blotches arranged in spiral rows. The soft body of the snail is strikingly colorful, featuring intricate patterns of purple, white, and yellowish-orange spots and reticulations, which serve as camouflage against its natural habitat. A small, brown operculum is visible on the foot.
