Average Size (mm)The tubular extension can range from 50 mm to over 100 mm in length, with the initial coiled part being much smaller.
Identifying FeaturesThe most striking feature is its highly modified, tubular, and irregular shell, which is a direct result of its endo-symbiotic (or endo-commensal) lifestyle within living coral. The presence of a small, coiled protoconch at one end of the large, uncoiled tube is diagnostic.

Description
A unique marine gastropod shell characterized by its initial coiled form transitioning into a thick, irregular, and elongated calcareous tube. This adaptation allows the snail to live embedded within living coral, with only the opening of the tube exposed to the water column. The shell surface is typically rough and chalky, often matching the texture of the coral host.
