Description
A vibrant orange scallop shell, likely from a living specimen given its fresh appearance and the surrounding wet, sandy/rocky substrate. The shell exhibits a classic scallop shape with numerous, well-defined radial ribs that extend from the umbo to the shell margin. The color is a striking, uniform orange, with a glossy or wet appearance. The shell is suborbicular with distinct auricles (ears) at the hinge line. The image shows the exterior of one valve, possibly the right valve, resting on a marine bottom.
