Description

The Morula echinata is a small to medium-sized marine gastropod shell characterized by its robust, conical to turbinate shape and highly sculptured surface. It features prominent axial ribs and spiral cords that intersect to form rows of sharp, pointed spines or nodules, giving it a distinctly 'echinate' or spiny appearance. The shell's coloration is typically a light greyish-white or pale brown background adorned with striking orange, reddish-brown, or dark brown spots and bands, often concentrated on the nodules. The aperture is relatively narrow, and the outer lip is usually denticulate internally. This species is a carnivorous predator found in intertidal and shallow subtidal zones.
