Description

The Rough Keyhole Limpet is a marine gastropod characterized by its low, conical, oval shell with a distinctive keyhole-shaped apical opening. The shell exterior is heavily sculptured with strong, often nodulose radial ribs and concentric growth lines, giving it a rough texture. The living animal's mantle is typically pale, often yellowish or cream, and extends over the shell margin, bearing numerous papillae or projections that contribute to its 'rough' appearance. The foot is broad and muscular, adapted for clinging to hard substrates.
