Identifying FeaturesA thick, solid shell with a trigonal to ovate shape and prominent, pointed umbones. The exterior is typically smooth or has very fine concentric growth lines. Internally, it possesses a strong hinge plate with three cardinal teeth in each valve and lateral teeth. The pallial sinus is deep and ascending. The interior surface is glossy and porcellanous.
