Description

The Zoned Cowrie is a medium-sized, glossy seashell characterized by its elongated, ovate shape and distinctive color pattern. The shell's surface is smooth and highly polished, typical of cowries. Its coloration consists of irregular, often confluent, reddish-brown to dark brown blotches and spots on a creamy white to pale tan background, which sometimes coalesce to form vague transverse bands or 'zones'. The ends of the shell (anterior and posterior canals) may exhibit darker or purplish-brown tinges. This species is highly sought after by shell collectors due to its attractive patterns.
