Description

Leukoma grata is a bivalve mollusk, commonly known as the Gratella clam. Its shell is characterized by an ovate to subtrigonal shape, with moderate inflation. The exterior surface displays prominent concentric growth lines and fine radial sculpture, which can create a slightly cancellate texture. The most striking feature is its highly variable and intricate color pattern, typically consisting of dark brown or black markings on a creamy white or light tan background, often forming zigzag, chevron, or blotchy patterns. The umbones are slightly anterior, and the interior margin of the shell is finely crenulated.
