Description
A small to medium-sized bivalve mollusc, commonly known as the New Zealand fan scallop. The shell is fan-shaped with prominent radial ribs, often adorned with small nodules or scales. The coloration is highly variable, typically mottled with shades of red, purple, pink, brown, yellow, and white. The specimen in the image shows a reddish-purple and white pattern, partially covered by marine growth. It possesses distinct, unequal auricles, characteristic of scallops.
