Description

A marine gastropod, Nucella heyseana, commonly known as a rock snail or whelk, is depicted on a rocky substrate. The main individual is partially withdrawn into its shell, revealing its dark operculum and a cluster of pale, cream-colored egg capsules within the aperture, suggesting brooding behavior. A smaller, juvenile snail or another species is perched on top of the larger shell. The shell itself is robust and dark-colored, blending with the surrounding environment.
