Description

The shell of *Olivancillaria orbignyi*, commonly known as Orbigny's Olive, is a medium-sized, highly polished, and elongated-ovate gastropod. It features a relatively low, conical spire and a large, smooth body whorl. The aperture is long and narrow, extending almost the full length of the shell. The coloration typically ranges from pale purplish-pink to grayish-lavender, often with a distinct darker brownish or yellowish band at the base. The interior of the aperture is usually a rich purplish-brown. This species is a carnivorous, infaunal mollusk found in sandy and muddy substrates of the southwestern Atlantic.
