Description
Purpuradusta hammondae, commonly known as Hammond's Cowrie, is a small, ovate marine gastropod belonging to the cowrie family (Cypraeidae). Its shell is typically glossy, whitish or cream-colored, and adorned with numerous distinct orange to reddish-brown spots. The living animal is characterized by a vibrant orange to reddish-orange mantle, which often extends to largely cover the shell, and is typically covered with small, white, branching papillae. This species is found in the Indo-Pacific region, inhabiting coral reefs and rocky substrates.
