Description
The Victorian Dosinia is a medium-sized bivalve mollusc characterized by its nearly circular, compressed shell. The exterior is typically creamy white to yellowish, adorned with distinctive, irregular light brown to reddish-brown markings, often forming V-shapes or zigzag patterns. Prominent, regular concentric growth lines (ribs) cover the entire shell surface, giving it a finely sculptured appearance. The umbo is small and slightly anterior. It is a burrowing clam found in sandy or muddy substrates.
