Description

Two specimens of Volutoconus grossi, commonly known as Gross's Volute. These are medium to large-sized marine gastropod shells, characterized by their elongated, fusiform shape and smooth, glossy surface. The shells display a striking pattern of irregular reddish-brown to orange-brown blotches and spots over a creamy-white to light orange-brown background, often with finer white speckles. The spire is moderately tall and pointed, and the body whorl is large, tapering towards a short siphonal canal. These shells are highly prized by collectors.
