Description
Two valves of the bivalve Circe rugifera, showcasing its distinctive shell morphology and intricate color patterns. The shells are subcircular to broadly oval, with prominent concentric growth ridges. The surface is adorned with a striking pattern of dark brown, V-shaped or triangular markings arranged in concentric bands over a cream to off-white background. The umbo is slightly anterior and pointed. One shell exhibits a small, possibly attached, foreign object near the umbo.
