Description
Favartia lappa is a small to medium-sized marine gastropod, commonly known as the Lappa Murex. Its shell is characterized by a rough, nodulose, and often spiny surface, giving it a burr-like appearance. The shell is typically fusiform to ovate, with a moderately elevated spire and a prominent body whorl. It features strong axial ribs and spiral cords, which often intersect to form distinct nodules or short, lamellar spines. The aperture is ovate, and the outer lip is usually denticulate. The siphonal canal is relatively short.
