Description
A marine bivalve mollusc, Petricola aequistriata, characterized by its equivalve, somewhat oval to sub-quadrate shell. The shell surface displays prominent, regular, and finely spaced concentric growth lines (lamellae). Coloration is typically off-white to creamy white, sometimes with faint yellowish, brownish, or pinkish tints, especially near the umbones. These shells are filter feeders and are known to bore into soft substrates.
