Description
The Roe's abalone shell is a flattened, oval-shaped gastropod shell characterized by its prominent, somewhat wavy, concentric growth ridges across the exterior surface. A distinctive row of open respiratory pores runs along one side of the shell. The exterior color is typically reddish-brown to reddish-orange, often with variations in tone and sometimes showing lighter patches or encrustations. The spire is low, and the shell has a wide, ear-like aperture.
