Description
A medium-sized, thick-shelled bivalve, characterized by its trigonal to subtrigonal shape and prominent, pointed umbo. The exterior surface is smooth, displaying concentric growth lines, and typically ranges from light brown to yellowish-brown, often with darker concentric banding or radial patterns. The interior of the shell is a striking purplish-blue or violet, particularly towards the margins, fading to a lighter cream or white near the hinge.
